My business consulting internship in Munich
Today was my very first day at Virtual Identity as a Business Consulting Intern. It is a bit strange to me, as I’not used to being an intern anymore. In fact, at .apeiro I was some kind of a big fish in a small pond, so my uneasiness is somewhat understandable. Nonetheless, the company made a very positive impression on me. All the people were very friendly, especially Daniel and we’re having a barbeque party on Wednesday [This is to celebrate the launch of www.man.eu].
The office is supersweet as well. Maybe not exactly the Googleplex, but things like a terrace, barbeque, huge coffeemaker, bar and huge windows are included. The office is actually placed in a Rückgebäude (back building) which is build in the backyard of the another building. This is a way of recycling real estate space, as property prices are exorbitant in Munich as I believe. The building is torus-like shape [a square hollow in the center precisely], and this internal wall is made entirely of glass to let as much sunshine as possible. I love it. Spreadshirt have something similar.
One thing I didn’t like was that my team forgot to call it a day at a reasonable time. I left at 7PM and I was the third person to leave, with a lot more staying at the office. I hope I won’t be expected to work 10h every day :-/ It has to be said about my previous job, that nobody was expected to work long hours there. It came at a (high) price, but was very positive nonetheless.
I can’t say anything about my work yet, but I think I’ll fit in pretty well there. After all, it seems to me, that I’ll do pretty similar things to those at my previous job, I just won’t gravitate towards project management that much as it is a business consulting internship after all.
